About us

South Bedfordshire Friends of the Earth is an informal and practical voluntary group based in Leighton Buzzard.

We campaign on many issues relevant to the town and surrounding area, such as climate change, biodiversity, transport, air pollution and recycling. We’re part of Friends of the Earth’s network of local groups.

Members meet every couple of months or so to catch up and discuss ongoing campaigns. When necessary, smaller groups of members meet to work on specific issues.

A few of our successes

  • We’ve campaigned for several wind turbines in the area
  • We created and manage 19 bee-friendly sites around the town
  • We were instrumental in securing funding for the Dash Direct bus service
  • We’ve held several well-attended and successful public meetings on climate change and related subjects
