Make climate change an election issue:

April 2005

Just before the election we asked you to contact your parliamentary party candidates and ask them to support the Climate Change Bill.

229 MPs have now signed Early Day Motion 176 asking for a renewable heat obligation. This makes it one of the most supported motions in Parliament.

Renewable heat was not even on the Government agenda last year and now it's forming a key part of its climate change review programme.  Thanks to everyone who took the action. (If your preferred candidate didn't get elected, or if they didn't answer your email, you can have another go at contacting them. Visit the Big Ask, Friends of the Earth's new climate campaign, for more actions and information on what you can do.)

Rapid Response - Urgent threat of GM contamination

January 2005

Results of this action

In January we asked you to respond to an urgent threat of GM contamination from experimental crops in the US . The Food Standards Agency replied to the letters saying it is discussing with the EU Commission how to monitor for such contamination. We will carry on putting pressure on the Government to object to contamination and defend our right to choose GM-free food. Thanks to everyone who helped highlight the issue.
